Balfour win National Schools Tag Rugby Championship

11th July 2013

We are proud to announce that Balfour Lions tag rugby team are NATIONAL SCHOOLS TAG RUGBY CHAMPIONS. This is the first time any school from Sussex has held this title.

The team had won through to the Nationals after winning the city title, then the County title before bearing 27 other schools from across the country. The finals were held at the home of the rugby, Rugby School.
The team was made up of Year 5 and 6’s of both boys and girls.

In a nail biting final Balfour beat the 3 times winners Stanley School in a “golden turn over.”

The children now have the opportunity to play at Twickenham before the 1st England vs Australia Autumn International in November.

“It was a special, special day and we are extremely proud of all the team” says Miss Laura Gibbons Head of KS2 PE.
