Our Approach to Learning

Our approach to learning in Year 1 follows a similar model to Reception, by encouraging learning through play within our carefully resourced and enriched environments. We make the most of ‘Continuous Provision’ which allows our children to access this environment to extend, deepen, apply and explore their learning in different way. Our skilled adults are facilitators of this learning, supporting and interacting to maximise the learning taking place. We find that this allows our children to become independent, curious and resilient learners. Nature School, Sporting activities and our specialist Music Teacher are timetabled for all year groups, and are also offered within Continuous Provision.

We want to ensure that our children are highly engaged and really enjoy their learning experiences. When children are ready and secure in the basics, we gradually move to more independent and structured learning throughout the year.
